I remember when I made my first silk flower, back in June, 2011. I had a lovely silk dress and I wanted to add a little beautiful touch to it, like.a brooch or a flower.
At that time I discovered old.books with patterns and photos.of silk flowers, I was amazed and I wanted to try this craft. I didn't have proper silk, neither dyes or tools, but I wanted to try it right away. So, my first silk flower was a soft version, with no supporting wires, dyed with my kids coloring set and instead of glue I stitched petals which gave more volume at the sepal area, which was difficult to attach it to my dress. It was a disaster : ) At the end I didn't wear it but what a fun time it was discovering each step.of creating my first silk flower! ... and since then I literally lived in my working studio learning how to mix dyes, color different flower parts, shaping and assembling silk flowers. I've done tons of mistakes indeed, from time to time I felt frustrated until I figured out each step on the way with the help of my first teacher and my burning desire to learn this art.
