There are different ways or recipes to stiffen fabric. This video will show you one of the methods.

- PVA powder: PVA glue stiffens fabric permanently once the glue hardens. Mix 2 tablespoons of PVA powder with 0.5 litre or 2.1 cups of water in a glass bowl. Stir the glue and water together with the wooden spoon until it is blended. Put it in a pot with water and then heat it slowly for 20-30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Filter the hot liquid through cheesecloth. You can use the mixture while it's hot. Apply the mixture with a paintbrush, squeeze the surplus and hang to dry. The solution can be more or less concentrated depending on the effect you want. Store the solution in a refrigerator, heat it up before use.
- Dry all prepared silk on a string like you dry washed clothes or glue about 1 cm of the prepared piece of silk to a hanging surface like a cupboard. Let it dry. Iron every piece of prepared dried silk.
