How to make Dandelion Bud
silk flower
● ------------------------ ●✿● ------------------------ ●
Whether you love them or hate them, dandelions are among the most familiar plants in the world. They’re one species that just about anyone can identify at a glance. Dandelions are, quite possibly, the most successful plants that exist, masters of survival worldwide. Their little yellow buds have been around for ages, sometimes annoying, sometimes fun, sometimes even dinner.
Did you know?
* The name dandelion comes from the French “dent de lion” – lion’s tooth, which refers to the serrated leaves.
* Dandelions open in the daytime and close at night.
* Dandelion seed can travel up to 8 kilometres (5 miles).
* Dandelion flower heads can be used to make dye in the yellow-green range. The leaves will make a purple dye.
* What we think of as the petals of a dandelion flower are actually individual flowers themselves. They will produce fruit called achenes, followed by the tiny, barbed brown seed and it’s accompanying “parachute” (called a pappus) that helps it disperse in the wind.
* Dandelions likely originated in Eurasia 30 million years ago.

Inspiration
Dandelions are a symbol for healing, whether from emotional or physical pain, and also surviving hard times as dandelions are the most persistent flower that never gives up. When you give someone a single dandelion or a bouquet, you’re giving a message of hope, telling the recipient to not give up and to persevere to sunnier times ahead. Inspired by the beauty and the strong character of these flowers, I decided to replicate Dandelion from silk.
If you like Dandelions and love creating I invite you to join me and make one for yourself or as a gift to someone special.
