She bought liquid dyes and my video tutorial "Silk Peony" in which I worked with powdered dyes. She asked me how to achieve similar coloring using liquid dyes.
I often have this question from my students, so I decided to share this information with you too.
My advise : take a tablespoon of water, pour the water in a small jar then add a few drops of liquid dyes (depending on the final color you want to achieve).
Dye a small piece of silk you are going to make petals or any other flower part in the dye you've just mixed. Let it dry. Examen it and then decide if the dye needs to be deluded or more concentrated. Add more water if you want to achieve lighter color or add more drops of dyes if you want to achieve more concentrated color.
Get the idea?
and another good tip - if you want a more intense color - place to dry petals (or any other flower part) on a solid surface like glass or a piece of plastic or a sheet of metal foil. When you dry flower parts on newspaper the dyes go through the silk into the paper but if you you dry colored flower parts on a solid surface the dyes more likely stay on the silk.
